The Howe Family
The most famous family in hockey history (Mr. Hockey® Gordie Howe, Mrs. Hockey® Colleen Howe, and their sons Mark and Marty) called Houston home from 1973-1977 winning 2 World Hockey Association AVCO World Trophy championships while turning Houston into a Hockey Town in the 1970's. To this day, the Howe family has deep ties to Houston.

Former WHA Houston Aeros forward who later transitioned to defense is a, WHA Hall of Famer (2010), US Hockey Hall of Famer (2003), and Hockey Hall of Famer (2011). After the WHA and NHL merger Mark would play for the Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Detroit Red Wings. Mark's number 2 is retired by the NHL Philadelphia Flyers (2012).



A former WHA Houston Aeros forward, Marty was inducted to the WHA Hall of Fame in 2010. After the merger of the WHA and NHL, Marty would play for the Hartford Whalers and Boston Bruins.
Former WHA Houston Aeros goaltender was inducted into the WHA Hall of Famer (2010). After the WHA and NHL merger, Ron would play for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, and Quebec Nordiques. After retiring from playing, Ron went back to his Alma Mater, University of Denver, where he served as an assistant coach, and later the university's Athletic Director



One of only 17 women to have her name enshrined on the Stanley Cup, Charlotte served as the Vice President of Hockey Administration with the Colorado Avalanche from 1995-2012 and again from 2019-2022, winning the cup in 2001. Charlotte and her son John (Tampa Bay Lightning 2004) are the only mother/son duo to have their names etched on the Stanley Cup.
Former WHA Houston Aeros forward who captained the University of Denver hockey team prior, spent 4 seasons with the Aeros, 1 season with the WHA Winnipeg Jets before an 8 year NHL career with the Chicago Black Hawks and New Jersey Devils. After his playing days, Rich spent 19 years as a NHL assistant coach, 5 years as a NHL scout, and 6 years as a WHL Head Coach.

A 5 year NHL enforcer with the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks, Reed's ties to the bayou come from his days playing for the Baton Rouge Kingfish. Representing Hockey Players In Business as the St. Louis Chapter president, Reed will be leading the auction for Hockey Day In Houston.
A current Houston resident, Jack won the AVCO World Trophy as a player with the WHA Houston Aeros later becoming a coach, broadcaster, and executive with the team. Jack holds a dubious distinction of his only NHL game was with the Chicago Blackhawks during the playoffs. After retiring from hockey, Jack became a pioneer in sports broadcasting based out of Houston.



A Houston area resident, Pete had 9 year professional hockey career spending time in the WHA and even had a famous call up with his hometown Detroit Red Wings. Upon retiring, Pete moved to the Houston area where he would become a coach with Clear Lake in the ISHL
A 16 year NHL veteran, playing for 10 teams with over 800 career regular season games played, Michel now calls The Woodlands home.

A former WHA Houston Aeros high scoring forward and 2 time NHL All-Star who would go on to captain the Winnipeg Jets before spending time with the Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings. "Luke" returns to Houston after celebrating the inaugural Hockey Day In Houston in 2024.
The 1st ever signing of the International Hockey League Houston Aeros who spent 2 seasons tending the net before becoming a broadcaster for the team. Prior to Houston Troy spent parts of 3 seasons with the NHL Vancouver Canucks. After retiring, Troy made the Houston area his home.



A 15 year NHL veteran, Bob played for the New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Dallas Stars, and Calgary Flames. Today, Bob serves as the Director of Alumni Relations for the Stars.
A 17 year NHL veteran on defense, Gerald was a 1st round draft pick in 1983 and went on to play 932 games with the New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, Hartford Whalers, Phoenix Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Dallas Stars.

A 17 veteran defenseman, Curtis played 4 seasons with the AHL Houston Aeros being named an all-star in each season and winning the Calder Cup with the Aeros in 2003. Curtis made his NHL debut with the Minnesota Wild in the 2002-2003 season
